Some remixes

I've posted the first group of remixes to our class wiki at http://www.zacharski.org/classes/2008/fall/mashup/index.php/Main/Remixes. In order to avoid any legal hassles, I've password protected that page with our usual password. These remixes include

  • Lady GaGa - Poker Face (Extended Mix) - Matt Martin
  • Laura's Project - Laura Donahue
  • Yes We Can Remix - Ronald Hudson
  • Bueller Battles the Pink Robots Pt. 1 - Sara Monk
  • Untitled - Jordan Morsberger & Chad Hatch
I will post the rest as they come in. Scope these out and leave comments here. If you have a favorite let us know!

Yes We Can Remix - Ronald Hudson
is definitely my favorite remix thus far.

The backup music itself is really well balanced. It impresses me that he made that using fruity loops; it sounds professional. The string orchestra, electric guitar, and smooth beat make it an interesting solid mix in itself.

What makes this remix stand out from the others is that the audio clips he inserted keep the song flowing smoothly without being jagged or misaligned. Sarah's "Bueller Battles the Pink Robots" has this quality as well, but suffers from being repetitive.

It also is held together very well by the common theme from the quotes that were selected. They were from many different sources, but they all compliment each other, with Obama's "Yes We Can" as the obvious cornerstone that brings it all together.

Laura's Project.

The song in the background of this mix really pulls it all together. I have never really heard the band who is playing in the background before, but I would love to know who they are so I can listen a little more. The quotes that are put into the remix just make it very funny, as both movies are absolutely hilarious. The only thing that was a little flawed with it is that the music transitions weren't as smooth as they could be. Otherwise it was enjoyable.

The background music for my project was Kings of Leon - Taper Jean Girl. I took all of the lyrics out of the song and linked all of the instrumental pieces together, which is kind of why the music doesn't quite flow as well as I'd hoped. It was really fun to make, since i have never really remixed anything before.

Ronald Hudson, “Yes we can…remix,” was one that empowered along with embodied the present political status of the presidential election, under the comprehension that it allure the strength of a nation that is making history, regardless of which candidates takes office. I found Ronald usage of Obama’s quotation was one that is parallel to the effects that Martin Luther King Jr. “I have a dream…” speech. I found that your ability to generate the underscore of the music was one which was impressive. The overall result of the music is one the personified the strength of a nation.
