The whole nature of the internet is unlike anything we have. We can easily create movies, blogs, and music and then spread them allowing the online community to expand on these ideas. It is a free world, but some, the large cable/telephone companies, want to take these freedoms away. AT&T, Verizon, Comcast and Time Warner want to give themselves special privileges on the internet. Faster times for themselves and slower for the rest. They want to tightly control the media that goes on. Effectively stifling the freedom we now know.
What these large companies are trying to take away is something called net neutrality. Net neutrality insures that everyone has equality on the internet. Specific companies can't alter internet service due to the content that service is spreading. So far net neutrality has allowed innovative companies to start and for artists of this generation to arise. Net neutrality is not a new concept it has been around since the invention of the internet.
The threat to net neutrality is a reality. The internet service companies have clearly stated they wish to alter the internet so it works to their own advantage. Attention needs to be payed so it can be stopped. They're already being deceptive about it, trying to tell us they have our interests in mind.
If the major cable companys' goals came to fruition and net neutrality came to an end our access would become limited. Our access would be geared towards what the cable companies want us to see. It would be more like TV or radio. The common people would no longer have say, but rather a more distant class of people like CEO's.
In Congress AT&T,Comcast, Verizon, and Time Warner are already lobying for the end of net neutrality, spending millions of dollars. With the help of the common people and companies like Amazon.com, Earthlink, EBay, Google, Intel, Microsoft, Facebook, Skype and Yahoo the internet can be saved and freedom preserved.

Net neutrality needs to be preserved on the internet. The network providers already get enough money and public support for what they do, they shouldn't be allowed to use it how they want to. They need to keep the internet neutral in order for new ideas to spread and shouldn't be allowed the freedom to discriminate against whoever they want for any reason they want.
