This article gave a good over view of the different technologies available for remixing. Each description sounds fun and interesting. But the most important part of the whole article was the first line which compares the acts of Picasso who is well known as a great artist and the creations of the modern day online culture. This point though not discussed in the article brings up the issue of what is legal and not what is art and not. There are many people who might believe that it is illegal to take someone else's work and remix it but the is what Picasso did in the collage. Some might also believe that the art being made is not original because they took from other people but so did Picasso. Overall this is a very good article.

Rip, Remix, Burn (Tools of the Cut & Paste Trade)
Just like Picasso making collages out of newspaper clippings out culture today are talking apart and mixing everything from audio to video. Some tools used include Photoshop, Garage Band, Technics SL-1210M5G, Final Cut Studio and Unreal Tournament Game Engine. Photoshop lets you mash, merge, and mangle images to create what ever the maker wants. Garage Band allows users to import samples, record live, and play virtual instruments. Technics SL-1210M5G can simulate the remix of old-school Technics turntables. Final Cut Studio is digital video editing for the masses. Unreal Tournament Game Engine gives everyone the opportunity to be a movie director of your own Animated film.

I found your post quite intriguing; by depicting a parallel relationship between modern remixing and cyber mash up to the works of Picasso; the author expresses the duality in modern world’s illustration of the mean of art along with what can be considered as art. Whereas in the period of Picasso’s life allowed him to conjure up mesmerizing works of art by means of a collage with various images, while in today’s society there are placing limitations on the interpretation that which is called art.
